PRIVACY POLICY โ LEXTOWN-01 (playlextown.com)
Effective July 7, 2026
LEXTOWN-01 is a free, open-source multiplayer game. It is designed to work without accounts, cookies, or tracking, and this policy describes the small amount of data that passes through it.
WHAT WE PROCESS
- Player name โ whatever name you type (or the random name assigned to you). It is visible to everyone in the world.
- Room code โ if you join a private room, the code, like your player name, is visible to the people in that room and may appear briefly in the server's short-lived operational logs; it is not a password, and nothing about rooms is stored permanently.
- Position and movement โ your avatar's location is relayed to other connected players in real time so they can see you.
- Chat messages โ relayed to everyone connected. Chat is public and unmoderated; do not share personal information.
- Mission high scores โ if you finish one of the timed missions, your chosen player name and completion time are added to the mission high-score boards. Those boards are the one thing that persists on the server: the fastest 50 times on each are kept until displaced by faster ones. Use a name you're happy to see on a leaderboard.
Everything else lives in server memory only while you are connected and is discarded when you disconnect. There is no database, no account system, and no chat history โ a message that has scrolled away is gone.
WHAT WE STORE ON YOUR DEVICE
A small set of localStorage values, all kept on your device and never sent up as an account: the name and avatar color you chose, your preference toggles (sound, radio station, the objective waypoint, and weather), a few flags that remember what you've already seen (the tutorial and one-time tips), and your mission progress โ your best times and which missions and vehicles you've unlocked. No advertising, no fingerprinting; clearing your browser storage resets all of it.
ANALYTICS
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage (page views, rough geography, device type). GA sets cookies/identifiers on your browser and processes data under Google's privacy policy. We do not use advertising features, do not sell data, and only look at aggregate numbers. You can block it with any content blocker or Google's opt-out add-on โ the game works identically without it.
SERVER LOGS
Like nearly every website, the server keeps short-lived operational logs (connections, disconnections, session lengths, error reports, frame-rate samples, and gameplay counts like darts fired) that can include IP addresses. Chat content is never logged. These logs are used only to keep the service running, find bugs, and deal with abuse; they are automatically deleted after about two weeks. The game is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States, whose infrastructure applies its own standard logging.
CHILDREN
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. There is nothing to sign up for.
THIRD PARTIES
Google Analytics (above) and our hosting provider (AWS). No data is sold or shared with anyone else. The complete source code is public at github.com/paul-codes-1/lextown, so you can verify all of this yourself.
CHANGES & CONTACT
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Questions or concerns: open an issue at github.com/paul-codes-1/lextown/issues.
